STEAMS
Who is steaming for?
Yoni steaming is an indigenous practice involving the usage of medicinal herbs to cleanse the womb or internal root chakra. At The Eve On, we believe that every single being has a womb of some kind, in spite of physical anatomy. We encourage all those who have a vulva to honor it as one would with any part of the body. Energetically, the root chakra is prone to blockage due to negative sexual experiences and relationships, breached boundaries, lack of regular hygienic upkeep, and inhibited movement of the lower body. We alternate between names of “yoni steam blend” and “root chakra blend” because we respect the gender fluidity of our customers and folks who would like to be in practice. For those who do not have a vulva, we recommend learning more about lingam steaming and massage, an ancient method of genital stimulation and cleansing.
How does steaming work?
Our saying goes: the best way to steam, is the safest way to steam. There are many stools and chairs to find to fit your best steaming experience. We do not recommend plastic items for any part of the practice. If you need suggestions on where to find a great quality stool, please contact us!
If you cannot purchase a stool, we advise that you set yourself up for success by taking the following steps:
Find a part of your space where you can cover the floor, even if carpeted. You’ll want to use a towel and perhaps a large tile block to secure your pot.
Find a pot just for your steaming experience. Make it your special vessel! We recommend a medium size pot–not a large one for making gumbo! You would want to use a pot that you can comfortably fit between both knees when squatting.
Stretch your body beforehand. Not having a stool to steam means you must depend on your core and leg strength. Be mindful that it may take a moment to get comfortable squatting, so practice hovering/kneeling over your pot before you heat the herbs.
Fill your medium pot a little more than halfway and begin a low boil. Add the entire package of our steam blend. Cover the pot and turn your heat up to a medium boil for 7 minutes. Set your timer! Once time’s up, turn your heat off and prepare your floor area for steaming. Uncover the lid halfway to release some heat.
Wrap your waist with a large skirt or sheet. You’ll want to keep in the warmth as much as possible to keep the steam going. In some cases, your pot might still be extremely hot. Please don’t hover your body over the extreme heat; it’s okay to let it cool down a bit. We don’t want anyone to burn their muffin, okay!
Make sure your skirt is not trapped under your feet or legs and kneel as high or low above the pot as it suits you. Focus your core, do some deep breathing and enjoy your steam for 20-30 minutes! Allow yourself to cry, sing, laugh or meditate. Rinse your muffin when finished.
SALVES
What exactly is a salve?
A salve is a natural mixture of beeswax, oils and herbs. We handcraft our salves to serve a multitude of purposes. Because they are made for topical use, we advise customers to use them in rhythm with their schedules throughout the day. For example, avoid body massages with heavy use of our salves right before putting on clothing or sitting on furniture, as the oil may stain certain fabrics. Do your best to really work the formula into the skin as directed on the label. Really get in there to let the herbs do their thing! For long lasting use, keep your salve out of extremely warm or cold places. No need to refrigerate or heat up.
TEAS
What are loose leaf teas?
Loose leaf teas are teas made from whole or partially broken tea leaves, herbs, flowers, and fruits. Unlike tea bags, which often contain lower-quality tea dust or fannings, loose leaf teas offer a richer flavor and aroma.
How do I brew loose leaf teas?
Brewing loose leaf teas is simple! Start by measuring the desired amount of tea leaves according to the recommended dosage; packaging contains serving recommendations according to certain herbs. Place the tea leaves in a tea infuser, tea ball, or directly in a teapot. Heat water to the appropriate temperature for the type of tea you're brewing, then pour it over the tea leaves. Let the tea steep for the 5-10 minutes, strain, and enjoy!
